From Empire to Garden
From Empire to Garden is an exploration of state-to-state migration in the United States in 2018. Using U.S. census data, this interactive piece of scrolly-telling data journalism explores major trends over the year in migration.
The project explores key regional and state-specific shifts and lets a user interact with the mapto explore specific shifts.
It serves to speak lightly about the political implications of such shifts in the coming years due to levels of outmigration and inmigration from specific states.
The full interactive was built in R shiny using wrappers for waypoint.js written by John Coene and leaflet. The final project is available here:
